After 10 years of working in marketing, and 5 years as a client of marketing agencies, I repeatedly asked myself:
“Why are we receiving so little, yet being charged so much?!”
I imagined the money we invested in our agency relationships was my own, and could rarely justify the kind of amounts we were spending. We were passed from account manager to account manager, developer to developer, with a lack of understanding over who we were or what we really wanted to achieve. Generic pieces of content, vanity metrics and lack of context were rife.
In 2020 I was furloughed from my in-house marketing position. I loved my role but hated feeling dispensable – and more than that, I hated not working. So I set up Trailblaze Marketing to right some of the wrongs I had experienced in the industry, to use the skills I’d crafted to help business owners navigate what can be a fairly confusing and time-consuming journey to effectively and efficiently define who they are, and communicate it to those people relevant to them.
My mission is to make marketing easy and enjoyable for business owners, become a trusted advisor and remove stress (because running a business is stressful enough, frankly!).
I love working with visionaries, those founders who question the status quo and look for ways to do things differently. I’m not afraid to ask difficult questions; an important and valuable element of working with anyone outside of your business is to capture their fresh perspective and understand how you may be perceived by your clients, prospects or suppliers.
